Who We Are

Who We Are

God tells us we’re never alone. “Where two or more are gathered, there I am in the midst” (Matthew 18:20). God tells us to meet together, encourage one another, and build each other up. That is Who We Are.

Camp Bethel, which was founded in 1878, is a nurturing community of Christ followers in a coveted place for spiritual growth and rest in a challenging world. As we openly seek God, Camp Bethel is a welcoming and diverse seasonal community, where the Gospel is shared and faith is explored.

Located on the scenic banks of the Connecticut River, Camp Bethel is a multi-denominational Christian campground with members representing over twenty denominations, including Baptist, Congregational, Episcopal, Evangelical Lutheran, independent Evangelical Churches, Methodist, Orthodox Catholic, Presbyterian, Reformed Church in American, and Roman Catholic among others.

The campground is owned and operated by The Camp Bethel Association, Inc., a non-profit religious organization, which is dedicated to holding worship and fellowship events throughout the summer, making our grounds available for seasonal retreats and summer youth programs, and in August conducting a nine-day “Camp Meeting” that offers spiritual and recreational programs featuring outstanding preachers and speakers, Bible study, Vacation Bible School for pre-teens, and times for sharing and expanding faith.

Our facilities are also available for rent to Christian and educational groups for conferences, overnight retreats, and workshops. The member-owned cottages on the grounds are occupied anywhere from a week to several months between May and the end of October. The public is invited to visit the grounds and participate in the services and group activities.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about us. Better yet—contact us at info@campbethel-ct.org or 860-345-2290 for a tour, information about our summer programs, or becoming a member.

In faith,

Camp Bethel, its officers, members and friends.
